Rewire Modulus ECS-10 Nerf Gun
I rewired a Modulus ECS-10 Nerf gun and added an LED light to the gun so that when the gun fires a Nerf dart it lights up. If you have any trouble with the steps you can use this video that may give you a better understanding on the mod (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b45xJIlwgcc By:LordDraconical).
Supplies
- Wiring
- Electrical tape
- Screw Driver
- Wire Stripper
- Soldering Iron
- Safety Goggles
Take Apart Nerf Gun
Every blue mark is a screw that needs to come completely out for you to take of the top of the Nerf Gun. Store your screws in a plastic bag or container so you do not lose them.
Take of the grey cap on the end of the Nerf Gun:
First unscrew both screw located on the top of the grey cap near the back of the Nerf Gun, the screws are marked with blue in the photo that you need to take out. Next take it off and it will reveal another screw on the side. It is marked with blue in the second photo, take that screw out too. Before you take the screws out on the side of the Nerf Gun there is one more screw on the battery that you need to take off first. It is marked in blue in the third photo, after unscrewing that you should be able to slide the grey part out and set it to the side. It is on the bottom of the nerf gun. After that you can flip the Nerf Gun onto its side that has the screws and start unscrewing. The forth photo has all the screws you need to take out marked in blue. After you take you all the screws you should be able to pop the top off of the Nerf Gun. In the last photo (Photo 5) it shows what you should have after doing all those steps and setting the top part of the nerf gun aside.
Taking Out All Unnecessary Components
Now we need to strip the inside so that we can get to all the components. In the first photo I marked in green each screw that needs to be taken out. After they are unscrewed set each of those parts and set them aside.
Tearing Out Old Wiring
The old wire can all be taken out. The only thing you need to do is clip the wires of any ONE of the buttons and keep that. The rest at be thrown away. You may notice a big green board on the back of the flywheel (Photo 2). That can be cut out with wire cutters and thrown away.
Rewiring
The first thing you should wire are a positive and negative wire from each motor. The color of the wire does not matter
Rewireing
Next you will want to create a circuit so that when you push the button below the trigger, the flywheel turns on. I first made mine with alligator clips to test the circuit shown in the photo. After I knew that the circuit worked I went one by one replacing the alligator clips with real wires that I soldered on, and then I put it back into the Nerf gun (Photo 2,3), how it came out.
Put the Rest of the Components for the Trigger Back In
If you need help with this refer to step 2 and just screw them back in how they came out.
Put the Top Back On
Just screw back in the top just like how you unscrewed it in step 1. If you need help refer back to step 1. After all screws are back in the gun you area ready to go.
