Simple Insect Robot || Obstacle Avoiding Using Limit Switches || Simple Projects 2023 || DIY Robot

Hello Everyone,

GOOD DAY !!! Recently I made some simple Robocar projects for my friend's son. For that I made a report in step by step and also made a video tutorial for all the robo ideas. Total I think around 6 different Robot ideas. So I thought it is better to share all the information with you guys also. Because information is not a thing to hide. So you can use it. If you are facing any issues, you can ask me without any hesitation. I am dividing my Robocar tutorial in four parts, Here it is second part. Let's start....

Supplies

Limit Switch SPDT three 3 pin 1A/125V or 2A/125V : 6 Nos

Limit Switch SPDT three 3 pin 5A/125V : 4 Nos

Female Spade Crimp Connector Size: Suitable for above limit switch lever (for both) :4 Nos each

170 point mini Breadboard : 1 Nos

3x1.5V AA Battery Box Holder : 1 Nos

Male-Male breadboard jumper wire : 30 Nos

Male-Female breadboard jumper wire : 10 Nos

Nuts & Bolts

M 2.5 x 25mm (diameter 2.5mm*length 25mm) : 8 Nos

M 2.5 x 10mm (diameter 2.5mm*length 10mm) : 10 Nos

PCB Single Stranded Wire : 4 Meter

Double Side Foam Tape : 1 Nos

1.5V AA Cell : 4 Nos

3 mm LED RED : 1 Nos

Resistor 1KΩ ¼ W : 10 Nos

It is an automatic robocar which automatically find and avoid the obstacles in front it. The obstacle is detected by a mechanical antenna connected in front of the robocar which sense the obstacle and activate the associated limit switch. Then the limit switch turnoff the corresponding wheel and so the robocar will make a turn. In this way it will avoid the obstacles automatically. The antenna and the limit switch is the sensing element in this project. It also included the blinking LED circuit which we did in earlier projects. Let’s start….

  • Take the two 3 wire limit switch and the small size nuts and bolts (2 in number)
  • Place the one limit switch in front of the robocar as given in the image (place it in an angle, the lever in an inward direction to the robocar)
  • Fix it in position using nut and bolt to the chassis hole (use plier and screwdriver carefully)
  • Similarly fix the second one to the next side (keep two switches lever in an inward position)

Note: Do only the limit switch mechanical connection. The circuit wiring we will do in future steps.

  • Take two antennas provided in the kit
  • Put each antenna into the limit switch lever in a direction in which the other side of the antenna to opposite side of the robo car
  • Refer the given images and do it carefully
  • Check for the proper working of each limit switch by pushing the antenna from front side
  • Now the remaining part is the wiring section. Let’s do it…..
  • We are using 2 batteries (3V) in series, so connect them in series, connect the output positive red wire to the +ve rail indicated in the breadboard, connect the output black negative to one side of the breadboard
  • Connect the LED with resistor in one side of the breadboard and connect the negative terminal of LED to the –ve black wire from the battery which we already connected
  • Connect the LED blinking limit switch one end to the LED positive resistor leg and the second wire to the +ve rail in the breadboard
  • Connect the black COM wire from the front limit switches to the +ve rail in the breadboard
  • Put ON/OFF switch in the –ve back wire from the battery
  • Connect the Ash coloured wire from the 2 motors to the ON/OFF switch’s second wire
  • Connect the limit switch Red wire with the motor’s remaining white wire based on the side.
  • Left side limit switch to left side motor and right side limit switch to right side motor
  • Connect the remaining green wire from the limit switch to unused slot in the breadboard separately. It is not for any connection, it is just for avoiding loose wires
  • Check the wiring diagram given below (check the wire colours)
  • Double check the connections once more

Done!

Note: Fit the ON/OFF switch with keep it in OFF position only

Note: Watch the video for better understanding.
