Kite are fun

rotating kite is more fun

this activity may be done with kids especially decorate the kite

this kite needs strong wind (stronger than wind for regular kite)

this kite may be constrict at one hour and less

some lesson learned form my first rotating kite will be explained at the steps below

Have Fun build it and fling the rotating Kite

Supplies

Styrofoam plate (2cm)

cutting knife

white glue

hot glue

mark rectangle 25*50cm

after cutting rectangle mark freehanded round corners and cut them

mark center for further usage

mark and cot 40-45 cm diameter

(can use improvised pair of compasses as shown at picture)

cut threw the wheel a small rectangle to fit the wing - the rectangle should be 25*2cm

it is critical that this will be accurate that wing will be fixed and will not move during flight (you may cot 18mm instead of 2 cm)

Reinforce Wing

when kite is fixed the wing tied by her botehs sides to string

so it needed to be reinforced by adhesive tape

attached to wing at botehs sides adhesive tape from end to end

start with the center and apply 3 straps slightly overlap the center strap

use 2 wood dibble

each one is 10cm long and up to 8 mm diameter

sharpen the tip of the dibble to ease entering it to the foam

after done take it out, put some white glue and enter them back

Add Some Limiter for Axis

at his step you can use plastic sheet or thin cartoon

if using hot glue do it carefully and use small amount of glue to prevent melting the foam

the purpose of the stage is make axis rotate smoothly

cut 4 pieces from plastic sheet and make a hoe for dibble at center of each one

glue the one beside the foam and make sure it tight

glue second piece about 1 cm from the former

let the hot glue cool and insert paper clip

Prepare the Kite to Flight

20210820_171115.jpg

decorate kite using spray paint or use colorful stickers

insert the wing to the will

tie for each paper clip short string 70 cm long

tie both strings at other end and make small loop for main string
