S.A.G.A - Simple Anti-Sweaty Gaming Accessory

Welcome to my first published Instructable! I know this is a simple one, but there will be more to come in the future!

I play PC games, I play console games, and I play console games at my PC desk. When I'm playing console games at my desk I usually play with my hands and controller in my lap. When things are getting extra sweat in Destiny for instance, I have used microfiber cloths near my desk for emergency de-sweating. With a lot of games being unpausable being able to wipe my hands and controller in an in a short amount of time got me to put the cloth on my lap. I didn't like the lap bit, so I got inspired by the magnets I have handy on my articulating lamp and the SAGA was born. I took the newly borne SAGA and attached it to the underside of my desk within a finger-distance of my hands and controller. I won my next three matches sweat-free. :)

SAGA takes almost no time to make, and is nearly ubiquitously available/craft-able with things you have in your house. While queuing for a Crucible match, I was able to construct, attach, and use SAGA. Luckily, it is easy to recreate it with the items you probably have laying around your desk, just as I did.

Step 1: Construction & Installation & Everything

Materials Needed:

  • Towel
  • Neodymium magnets
    • These could be of any shape, but of a minimum volume approximate to what is shown
  • Optional
    • Thumbtack
    • Super glue

This is about all you need to be able to set this up at any desk. The magnets will get this connected to most any desk, as most have some sort of cross support that is magnetic. If you have a non-magnetic desk, that is where the tack, extra magnets, and superglue come into play. If you have a wooden, or similarly constructed, desk you can push the tack into the underside of the desk to give the SAGA a place to hang. If you don't want to tack the underside of your desk, or are unable based on the material, use the superglue to glue one of the magnets to the desired spot instead.
