SIMPLE NO CREASE SHIRT CARRIER

As a biomedical engineer I have to travel a lot and it would be nice to look your best at all times. But the need to travel compact and not have yourself laden with luggage’s is truly desirable.

Packing an active bag for a 2-3 working day schedule can really be had givening that your shirts after ironing at home or sending them to the laundry man turns out to be a waste of time and resources, Reason being that you will end up with creased up shirts at your final destination as your bag and its internal contents gets squashed.

So I dwelt on this for a while and I decided to build my very first prototype for my entry.

Tools:

Glue stick

Cardboard.

In this project, i wanted it to be simple compact but sturdy enough to hold the shirts.

Since I had lots of boxes of empty carton at my disposal I decided I was going to amend an already existing carton to suit my needs.

PS: Note that the proposed shirt carrier is actually taken from the measurement of your own shirt. Differet body size means different carrier sizes. For my stature my shirt when folded measures approx 30cm by 26cm. Sorting through the pile I found a box that measured 41cm in width which is my first point to consider in finding the suitable box. The length should be more than your shirt lenght to give you room for what your design entails. For the height I decided to use 10cm after packing 6 shirts into my design and it was okay.

NB i didnt want to start cutting up and build the box afresh, so i decided to make use of the existing box shape to make my build easy. #thelazymanapproach.

Cut the excess off and fold in. The base lip should be tucked in and the lips closed. Naturally the lips arrow 2 and 3 will be in excess so measure the length of the width and divide by 2. using the new width measurement, Measure from the 10cm mark u made all around the craft to the edge of the lip of the carton and trim off the excess. Apply hot glue and assemble back together to form the complete carrier.

Using two plastic sheets attach elastic to one side. 2 or 3 bands of elastic will be in other. Sewing a Velcro strap or pressing button will be used to secure the other end of the plastic sheets together. This I believe will be more compact and will probably slide into the space allocated for your laptop in your bag. What do you think about this let me know in the comment sections
