STAR WARS WOODEN SPACE SHIP

This is a big project, it took me 4 days to complete, but I can't use my left arm to well cause of a surgery I had. so if your handy you could build it faster. it cost me less then $100.00 but I had some of the stuff lying around (plexaglass, vinal, lights gauges, switches, most of the paint and stainless plates). my kids love this thing and they haven't stopped playing in it.

1st take a sheet of 3/4 plywood and draw the side of the ship. make sure you will have enough plywood to flip it over and trace it for the other side of the ship. making the ship shape is just a little thought and imagination. or look on the Internet for ideas. mine is about 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide.

Once you finish the sides figure out were you want the doors and cut them out.
you can use 1/4 ply wood for the roof, floor and back wall and even some of the front end. i used 2x3's for most of the framing. but you can use 1x? pine also.

make the floor frame and back wall frame then cover them. as seen in photo.

I made the front end out of 1x4, 1x6, 1x12 pine.
a table saw i nice for ripping the angles.
i also made a toy box in the front by hinging the 1x12 hood, and putting a piece of 1/4 plywood to devide the cab area as seen in photo.

After you get it to look the way you want it to look.
i made a seat and dash but the dash is optional, i had the gauges and switches.
sand everything to rounded edges so the kids dont get hurt.
then for me this would not fit in the door, so i painted the out side then took it apart and painted the inside pieces.

I put it back together inside then cut and painted pvc for the roof and steering wheels. i put tinted plexaglss on the windows. then added led lights inside and out. i cut out stencils of the jedis and star wars, then went crazy with tape and orange and white paint.

I know my directions are vauge but I didn't plan on posting on hear till after it was done.

8- 2x3x8' lumber
1- box 1 5/8" wood screws
1- box 3" wood screws
1- box 3/4 wood screws
hinges, handles, paint, tinted plexaglass, pvc pipe parts, masking tape, led lights.
this is all I can think of.

next im going to something like this for my daughter with a different theme. when i do it i will post it.
