Safe and Sound Security System

_DSC0699.jpg

For my first ever instructable I've decided to create a sound reactive light security system for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. It is meant to be adjustable with its parts as well as placement. You will be able to place it anywhere viewable. It works as a backlight but when there is a loud and abrupt sound it will alert you.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Arduino Uno Board & USB Cable

Breadboard

9V Battery Clip with 5.5mm/2.1mm Plug

9V Battery

Sound Impact Sensor

Protective Eyeware

Solder

Soldering Iron

Lots of Velcro Patches

Set It Up on the Breadboard

You will want to follow this code from GraziCNU's Sound Reactive LED Strip.

Move It Over to Your PCB

I moved the parts to mimic how they were set up on the Breadboard over to the Circuit board. I soldered the positive charges together on the LED and all of the negative charges together making sure I did not intersect the two charges. My desire was to make it as interchangeable as possible hence the velcro for easy assemblage.

Watched It Go

Made sure everything was in working order once I plugged in the battery. If everything is working properly the LEDs will react to louder volumes. Adjust the sound sensitivity to your desired setting.

Placed It in the Right Setting

You can place it virtually anywhere! I chose to put mine behind the television.
