Sculpey Clay Pendant
Sculpey clay painted necklace pendant
Roll Clay
Put Sculpey clay on a flat work surface, I am using an artists pencil case that I have, and roll out clay flat with a round object.
Colored pencils work great because they are round, unlike #2 pencils.
Cut Pendant Shape
Using a clay knife, or other sharp edge tool to cut the shape of your pendant out. My knife isn't very good though.
By know you might notice your pendant is still too thick, if you like the look leave it and go on. If you're like me though, the perfectionist, you will roll it flat more.
When you finish rolling poke a hole through.
Rolling left my shape a little distorted so I will fix it.
Decoration
At this point make any indentations or carvings in the clay because after baking no changes can be made unless by power tools.
Baking
The baking temperature and length of baking depends on the thickness of your piece, since I am painting mine afterwards it is okay for mine to be overbaked. If you want your pendant white its still okay just paint it white after baking. If you are using COLORED sculpey you will want to check the temperature and length of baking.
WARNING: Sculpey clay is NOT edible. You will want to use a pan that is NOT used for cooking. I'm using an old rusted one.
Coloring/Finished
If you used colored clay, and didn't overbake then you only have to thread. If you didn't use colored or you did overbake then keep reading.
After removing your pendant from the oven, carefully peel it from the pan and drop in cold water. This is not necessary but it helps with cooling.
If you're like me your pieces are SUPER OVER BAKED but luckily I'm painting.
I'm taking a folding piece of paper with paint on it to color with a pattern.
Threading
By now, I feel like an idiot because I forgot to poke a hole for the thread. Anyway, take some string or thread and tie it in a loop. Put one end through the hole and thread that end through the other two. I realize how complicated that it... I'll show one I've done before.
