Sewing a Cozy Blanket!

Hi, my name is Caitlyn! I am 12 years old, and I love to sew! Sometimes, the best thing to sew is a cozy blanket during the winter. Well, now's your chance, because today I'll be showing you how to sew the most amazing blanket ever!

- Two fluffy felts, any desired colors

- Thick white sewing string

- A sewing needle

- Scissors

That is all!

To start off, you are going to need to cut your two felts to your desired lengths. By the way, I got my felts from Michael's, the craft store if you need ideas on where do get some great blanket felts. (I made my blanket 5 ft long by 4 ft wide) After cutting them, make sure they aline perfectly. You want to aline them before you start to sew.

Take your time cutting just to be sure that you are matching your measurements.

Now take your sewing string, and needle, because it's time to sew! This can be the tricky part, and if you already know how to sew then that's great! If you do not know how to sew, then just follow this step carefully.

Take your string, and put it through the hole at the top of the needle. (You can use tweezers if you are having trouble using your figures) Now once you've pulled the string through, tie a knot at the end of the string. This will prevent the string from coming out of the hole in the needle. You are now going to begin the sewing process. I call this type of stitch, a looped stitch because you are going to have to loop the string. Take the needle and punch it through the two felts. Next, you are going to pull the string under both felt, and then come back up. (If I didn't explain that very well, then just look at the pictures above.)

You are going to repeat this step around the whole rim of the blanket.

This is a quick last step, but do it just to be sure. You are going to pick up your final product and check the whole thing to make sure you sewed everything. Also, make sure none of the strings broke.

And that is all to it! It is very easy to make this blanket, and the even better part is that it is going to be so warm, and cozy! I love this blanket, and after making one of them, I made many more to give to friends and family! This is the most perfect blanket for a cold winter because it warms you right up!
