Shaded LED Lamp
I created a shaded lamp using Lasercut Wood, Paper Towels and 2 5mm LEDs because I wanted to know what a lamp that doesn't mainly focus on lighting a room but rather aesthetic purposes would look like
Supplies
I used about 2x2ft worth of thick basswood plywood for the lasercut box, one can of black rust-o-leum spray paint, standard paper towel, a coin battery and holder with wire, heat shrinks, 1 5mm white LED, and soldering iron and wire.
Laser Cut Wood and And Hotglue It
To lasercut the wood I used a glowforge and for designing I used vectr.com, I recommend using hotglue as its much quicker to bond making the whole proccess a lot quicker and easier. Also, on the Vectr design program make sure the square fits the pieces and add a hole in the center of it.
Spray Paint Design
This step is fairly simple, grab your black rustoleum spray paint, go outside, and spray every part of your design and let dry for 10 minutes per coat, I did about 2 coats per side but make sure to coat every nook and cranny.
Wire Lights and Heat Shrink It
Now, you need to grab your LED, Battery pack, heat shrink, and soldering supplies. You want to first check which wire goes to which side of the led to light it up, tape the wire and the led to hold them into a fixed spot but make sure you have a heat shrink on each before soldering, heat up the soldering wire to bind the metal so the light shines when turned on, slide the heat shrink over the solder, heat it with any heat source (ex. lighter, heat gun, soldering iron{but super quickly}) and fit it into the bottom hole of the design.
Measure Out Wood and Cut Paper
Self explanatory, measure the sides but make sure length wise you add about 2 cm, on the paper trace out the size of the shape, then set it on the design to make sure it fits
Tape Paper Onto Lamp
Add a small piece of clear tape and attach it to the paper
Enjoy the Finished Product!
Light up the lamp, put it in a dark room and enjoy your hard work! :)
