Sharp Edge Guards With SUGRU

Our local High School Robotics Team had a problem. They have to transport their 3' x 2' robot creation to various events and competitions. They often have to lift it and carry it. There are some sharp edges and metal protrusions that sometimes made things uncomfortable for it's handlers But how could they add any protection without adding weight to the device? For competition purposes, the robot could not weigh over 120 lbs. and it already weighed 119 lbs. After seeing a demonstration of SUGRU at our September Build Night, a member of the team could see SUGRU as the answer to their problem.

The team wanted to add as little weight as possible so they will study their robot to find the trouble spots. They will decide on which trouble spots to guard.

After washing their hands, and cleaning and drying the trouble spots, the team will open a package of SUGRU and apply the product to the areas needed. At the demonstration, they discovered that a little bit of SUGRU goes a long way. After drying for 24 hours, the handlers will be able to transport the robot without threat of injury as the edges and metal protrusions will be covered with a soft layer of "rubber. They will solve their problem without adding more than an ounce or two of weight.
