Simple Cookie Recipe
Hey there!
This instructable will detail how to make a quick and simple (and quite frankly delicious) cookie recipe that almost anyone can make! The nice thing about this recipe is that is is also just a base for the cookie, so you can add any extra ingredients (such as chocolate chips) that you'd like!
From start to end, this takes about half an hour to 45 minutes to make!
Ingredients
The things you will need are:
1 egg
1 cup of butter or margarine
1 tsp of vanilla
1 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of salt
3/4 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of brown sugar
2 cups of flour
1 small bowl
1 medium bowl
2 non-stick cookie sheets
1 oven
Optional:
3/4 to 1 cup of any additional ingredients you wish to add. I chose skor bits and white chocolate chips
Dry Ingredients
Before you start with any of the ingredients, turn your oven on to convect bake at 350F and allow it to pre-heat
Take your 2 cups of flour, 3/4 cup of both white and brown sugar, teaspoon of baking soda, and half teaspoon of salt and put them into your medium sized bowl. Mix all the dry ingredients together in this bowl until they form a homogeneous, uniform powder. Now set this bowl aside.
Wet Ingredients
In your smaller bowl, mix your egg (separated beforehand to ensure no blood or shell fragments) with the teaspoon of vanilla and your cup of butter or margarine. I like to melt my butter beforehand so that it is a liquid and mixes better with the other ingredients.
Once they are all in the bowl, lightly stir the ingredients together until it is also a uniform, homogeneous mixture.
Mix All the Ingredients Together
At this step, mix your wet and dry ingredients together along with any of the additional ingredients such as the white chocolate chips. Stir together the liquid and the powder until it forms a dough. I find it easier to mix it together with a spoon at first, and then when it starts sticking to the spoon, switch to mixing it by hand. To avoid getting it stuck to your hands, lightly dust them with flour.
Placing Your Cookies
In order to get the cookies to not form a single, large blob when baking, take balls of dough that are approximately a half inch in diameter, and flatten them down on the cookie sheet until they are about 3/4 to 1 inch around. Place each cookie one to two inches apart. When your tray is full, put them in your preheated oven!
Baking
Place the cookie sheets in the pre-heated oven at 350F.
With these sized cookies, my oven takes 13 minutes to bake them to perfection. Since each oven is different, put them in for 8-10 minutes at first and monitor them after that so you can pull them out when they are done. You will know they are done when they appear a little crispy around the edges and are becoming a hay-like gold colour throughout the rest of the cookie.
Completion!
Once they are fully baked, pull the trays out of the over carefully and leave them to cool. Once the trays and cookies are cool to the touch, use a cookie lifter to cut apart any that have fused, then take them off the tray and store them for later consumption. Enjoy!
