Simple Vinyl Record Wall Display in Less Than 5 Mins!

IMG_5935.JPG

I just made a cheap and simple way of displaying 12' vinyl records. My daughter wanted to display her ever expanding collection of Taylor Swift vinyl and the ones I saw online were quite expensive. This method uses easily available materials and no specialist tools. Just make sure you have a new blade and a steady hand! From one piece of plastic conduit I got 6 displays with a bit left over; you could probably get 7 shorter ones with no waste but I didn't do the maths. Suitable for single and double albums. Could be adapted for 7" or 10" vinyl, and can be used for any artiste or popular beat combo.

Supplies

1x 6mm x 2000mm plastic cable conduit (make sure it comes with the self adhesive strip) £6 from Homebase.

Tape measure

Stanley knife

Pencil

Spirit level

Preparation

Remove the cover strip from the conduit. Not sure what to do with this bit so any suggestions welcome.

Measure and Cut...

Mark a 300mm length, and with adhesive side down carefully cut down both sides of the conduit.

Score and Bend...

Turn it over and score the adhesive strip then bend to separate the pieces. Safer than trying to cut it.

Fold and Split...

With a steady hand score down the length of the adhesive strip and fold back to split into two identical pieces. Make it easier by folding it back and running the knife down.

Mount on Wall

Remove the adhesive backing and stick the bottom piece to the wall. You can use whatever record to get the position of the top bit.

Be humbled as the Man in Black looks on disapprovingly.

Update: It's been up on the wall for a couple of hours and hasn't fallen off yet. The adhesive seems to be quite sticky. You could always push in a couple of drawing pins to be sure.

Update: Just been informed that '"Fearless" by T.Swift doesn't fit. It's a triple album ha ha ha...
