Simple Wire Mesh Lamp
This is an instructable about, how to make a simple and easy Wire Mesh and Concrete Lamp that can be hanged or kept on a desk.
Supplies
Cement & Sand
GI Wire Mesh
3mm Foam Core Sheet
OHP Sheet
Straw
Cutter
Scissor
Glue
Bulb & Cord
Making the Mould
For making the mould for the concrete top, take a 3mm Foam Core or even a cardboard sheet. Make a 5x5x3 cm box with open faces. Cut a 3 cm wide sheet of transparent ohp sheet to make the circular form. And wrap it inside the box to make mould. Glue a straw to make the hole for the wire to pass.
Cut the Wire Mesh
Cut the wire mesh to make a conical shape with scissors/ wire cutter. Tie the ends of the sides together. Be careful of the sharp ends.
Pour the Concrete
Mix the sand and cement together and add water slowly to make the mix. It shouldn't be too runny nor too dry. Pour it into the mould and place the wire in the center. Remove any air bubbles by tapping and vibrating the bottom. Let it dry for atleast 24 hrs. Break the mould and remove the straw. Sand and finish the edges. And the lamp is ready to light.
Light Up
Attach a bulb and cord and enjoy the light and shadows through the wire mesh. You can use it as a pendant lamp or keep it upside down on a desk.
