Simple and Cheap Spice Rack
This spice rack is very easy to build. All you need is a board and some pieces of scrap wood.
- Difficulty: easy
- Time to made: 2-4 hours
- Costs: < 10$
Material:
- 1 board
- several pieces of scrap wood
- screws
- wood glue
- linseed oil
Tools I used:
- table saw
- edge sander
- random orbit sander
- cordless drill
Sawing the Wood
I cut a 3 layer pine wood board with a rail saw into the right size
and many of little pieces of scrap wood.
Sanding
The small pieces were sanded with a edge sander and the board with a random orbit sander.
Setup
I played around with all this little pieces, to find a good solution.
Assembling
For a bigger piece I drilled two holes, screwed it on with a the first screw, check the squareness, made little corrections and then I screwed the second screw in.
For a small piece, I drilled only one hole and add a drop of wood glue on it.
Hidden Mounting Holes
Two rectangular pieces got only one screw. So you can turn them. Under these pieces are the mounting holes.
Finish
I added some layers of linseed oil and after one hour I wiped off the excess
