Sir Eggcellent & the Black Knight
Ye olde eggversaries are ready for battle on their valiant robot mouse chargers! Nothing fancy required, just eggs, metallic markers, duct tape, cardboard, paper, egg cartons and robots! (or any remote or mobile toy)
Find Your Knights!
When you have found the right eggs for the battle, blow the contents out and draw a face on with a sharpie. Keep the egg carton to make the armour. Blowing eggs is easy, use a pin to make a small hole at each end of the egg and then blow very hard - or suck if you want a fresh egg shake. One trick is to stick a toothpick inside and stir around to break the yoke up. Then rinse with water and if you're in a hurry to decorate your egg, dry it in a microwave for 15 secs.
Armour and Weapons
Cut the egg carton up. Make 2 saddles, 2 helmets and 2 shields. Roll paper around a toothpick to make the lances. Then get your metallic markers out and decorate. Any shape looks good with metallic marker!
Is the Arena Ready?
Any cardboard box can be sliced up and taped into a tabletop circle. To make it more interesting, cut castle shapes in the cardboard with your trusty box cutter on a cutting board. Or use scissors, or a serrated knife or hacksaw. Duct tape is a castlebuilder's best friend.
Assemble the Combatants!
Duct tape is the best squire! Use liberally to attach saddle to steed, egg to saddle, helmet and shield to egg and finally, line up the lance so it's pointing at the other combatant!
Our robot steeds are Solarbotic mousebots. They are amazing and so fast. For extra fun, you can put a light emitting diode on the front or tail of the steeds and they will chase the light. But in a small arena it's not too hard for the knights to find each other!
You can use any remote control or mobile toy, we just like robots! Happy jousting!
