Mini-style Slider Burgers
A how-to on making your own sliders at home.
Gather Ingredients
Either purchase or gather the following ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
1 (1.25 ounce) envelope onion soup mix
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 cups shredded cheese
24 dinner rolls
Optional ingredients:
1/2 cup of sliced pickles
tomatoes
head of lettuce
onions
avocado
bacon
mustard
ketchup
barbecue sauce
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
Prep Ground Beef
To begin with, wash your hands! Mix together the ground beef and onion soup mix in a large skillet; cook and stir over medium-high heat until the beef is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink. Drain and discard any excess grease. Remove from heat. Stir the mayonnaise and Cheddar cheese into the ground beef mixture
Prep Dinner Rolls
Lay the bottoms of the dinner rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the cheese and beef mixture on the bottom half of each roll. Replace the tops. Cover with another sheet of aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven until the burgers are heated through and cheese melts, should take about 30 minutes.
Topping Prep (optional)
The next few steps cover the simple prep of the various toppings for your sliders. Keep in mind these are all optional. All steps should be completed while sliders are baking. Again, make sure to wash hands thoroughly.
Tomatoes
Usually people prefer sliced tomatoes for their burgers, so that will be the method I cover.
Gather your tomatoes, a serrated knife, and a cutting board
Wash your tomatoes thoroughly
Take the knife and cut the stem out
Turn the tomato on its side and cut a thin slice from the bottom making sure not to push the knife through, let the blade do the work
No continue to make slices about 1/4 inch in size
Repeat this process until you have enough slices
Onions
Like tomatoes, onions can be cut in a variety of ways. I'm going to be using the pole-to-pole slices.
Peel the onion
Trim both ends of the onion
Make a notch at the top
Slice along the lines of the onion using radial cuts, not straight up and down cuts
Repeat process until satisfied with amount of onions
Lettuce
Clean the lettuce
Remove the dark outer leaves
Break the core and pull it out
Cut the head of lettuce in half
Take one half and cut from end to end, each cut should be about 1/2 inch
Turn that half and cut again
Repeat previous 2 steps on second half of lettuce
Avocado
The avocado is going to be rather simple.
Using a sharp knife, slice through the avocado lengthwise until you feel the knife hit the pit
Then rotate the avocado, keeping the knife steady, to make a cut all around the pit.
Twist the two halves apart
Take a spoon and scoop the contents into a bowl
Repeat as necessary
Bacon
The bacon is rather self explanatory. You can fry it on stove top, in the oven, or get microwaveable bacon. Completely your preference. I personally like stove top bacon.
Remove Sliders From Oven
At this point your sliders should be done baking in the oven. You can now remove them and let them cool. You are then free to put your toppings on them and eat them. Enjoy!
