Small House With Multi Functional Furniture

IMG_1018.jpg

I wanted to create a small house that looked good and had furniture that had a variety of functions. I decided to create this as I feel like there are many ways furniture and houses can be designed, in order to maximize the use of space while having as many functions as possible.

Supplies

  1. Acrylic
  2. Fusion 360
  3. Wood Glue
  4. Super Glue
  5. Wooden Platform (50x25cm)
  6. Filament

Floor Plan

The floor plan was first created by using a sketch on top of the wooden board, then extruded upwards by 1 cm.

Support, Floor, and Walls

Screenshot 2024-12-17 140232.png

The floor was first extruded upwards by 1cm. Then the support was extruded up by 12cm cm. The roof was created by extruding a rectangle of 44cmx19cm in both directions so that the bottom is sitting on top of the support at 12 cm. The back wall was then extruded by 13 cm, joining into the roof.

Couch Frame

Create a rectangle with dimensions of 7.95cmx5.061cm. A rectangle is created afterwards at the back with a width of 2.061cm for the back storage. The side storages were framed by creating two identical 0.8cm width rectangles from the start of the back storage.

Cushion

The middle rectangle was extruded up from the last step by 1 cm, and the side rectangles extruded up by 2.5 cm. The cushion frame was made with a rectangle with dimensions of 6.35x3.12cm with a line in the middle to separate the two cushions. They were then extruded upwards by 0.75cm, and the filet function as used on the corners for a smoother look.

Back Storage

The back storage rectangle was extruded up by 10 cm, with rectangle cutout of 6.35x1.2x6.5cm starting 0.92cm from the top. A rectangle with height of 0.124cm was then created on the cutout, and extruded into a shelf. The shelf was replicated using the rectangular pattern feature.

Side Storage

Screenshot 2024-12-17 225418.png

On one of the side rectangles, a rectangle of dimensions 1.9x0.4cm was created and extruded inwards to create a empty space for the cabinet. The front of the rectangles was extruded inwards, creating the door for the cabinet, then two rectangles of height 0.1 were created, and was extruded inwards by 3.121cm. An interior wall was then created with a width of 0.031cm, and extruded upwards. This cabinet is now finished, and the mirror function was used to replicate it into the other arm. The as built joint function was used to create movable cabinets.

Bottom Storage

The storage underneath was created by extruding a rectangle of 5.95x0.7cm inwards by 3cm.

Table Frame

Screenshot 2024-12-17 225950.png

The table and bunk bed frame was created by using a rectangle of 10cmx4cm, and with a circle of radius 2.5cm at the center to create space for the chair. A rectangle of length 2.2cm and 0.438cm width was created at the left side of the rectangle to create the ladder, with identical rectangles of 0.2cm on both sides for the walls

Table

The table was extruded up using the rectangle by using the two sided extrusion to a width of 0.6cm

Cabinet

A rectangle was extruded at the end of the bottom of the table downwards touching the base. Two identical rectangles of 2.3cmx1.1cm were created on the cabinet, then extruded inwards to create space for the cabinet. The inside was created in a similar fashion as the cabinets on the couch, but this time, a box is created where the walls are extruded up on all four sides of the box.

Ladder

Screenshot 2024-12-17 230922.png

The ladder was extruded up by 8cm. A new sketch was created on the ladder to include steps to go up to the bunk bed by using different rectangles. The filet feature was then used on the top to smooth out the top handles of the ladder. The rectangles were then cut out of the ladder, creating steps.

The bed was created by creating a sketch of a rectangle that has identical sizing as the table on top of the ladder. It was then extruded on both ends to move it down the ladder a bit so that the ends of the ladder are above the bed. The extrusion was had a width of 0.3cm. A rectangle was then made on the side of the bed, and extruded upwards. The extrusion was then smoothed out using filet, and the pattern on the side was created using a sketch, new plane at the middle and rectangular patterns.

Blankets and Wall

The blankets and pillow of the bed were made after a new sketch was created on top of the extruded bed, with two rectangles. These rectangles were then extruded upwards, and smoothed out using the filet. The walls of the bed were then extruded up, with the wall on the side of the ladder being 8.2cm and the other wall being 9.1cm.

3D Print

The fusion file was placed in bambu studio, and 3D printed out from different components of each object.

Glass

The glass was laser cut, and made by acrylic. The proportions of the glass are the same as the proportions on the fusion file except 1cm less as laser cutters are not entirely accurate.

Wooden Base

The wooden base was cut using the laser cutter

Assemble

The whole product was assembled by first placing the frame of the house on the wooden board and gluing it with wood glue. Then the furniture were placed inside. Then finally, super glue was used to glue the acrylic onto the house.
