Small Tool Box
I made this toolbox mostly for hold pieces and tools for working on stuff indoors, I have found it difficult to find a small toolbox that isn't super large that would be good for a desk, also had a friend mention the same issue whenever he was building RC cars and what not, so it made me think up this idea to build it
Supplies
you're gonna the following
.laser cutter
.3d printer
.2 flat magnets
.glue
Design
first, your gonna want to fire up your 3d printer and figure out what size box, personly I did 140mmx140mm, sizes may be different depending on what size holders you want and how large you want the box to be, once that's designed start it
Design the Other Box
now that the inner box is getting printed, get your laser cutter and design a box and make it 2 to 3mm bigger than your 3d printed box, so if my box is 140mm then the laser cut box will need to be 142 or 143 depending on how much you extra room to want to get your box out, I personly like 3mm, this website here( https://en.makercase.com) is the best for laser cut box designs, quick and easy as well
Gluing the Box
now that you finished laser cutting, your box should come together and all you gotta do is glue it and wait, mine came out about like this
Test Fitting
now you need your 3d printed box, make sure it fits in your laser-cut box correctly, if everything fits and works smoothly
Magnets
next up get 2 fridge magnets, I bought a pack of 8 of these at the dollar store, I used 2, you can use 4 or 6 or 8, however much pull you want it to have, I don't recommend anything over 4 magnets, and you want to put 1 face down on the bottom the 3d printed box and 1 facing down on the floor of the laser cut box as pictured
Assembly
once the glue drys on the magnets you are ready to put the 2 boxes together, just put the 3d printed box down in the laser-cut box and let the magnets do the rest, should stick together pretty well
Enjoy It
and that's all there is to it, you now have a nice desk-sized toolbox for small tools and nuts and screws, that has a removable bottom for semi-larger tools and parts, and now you can sit back and enjoy it or go use it, thanks for building, enjoy!!!
