Solar Filter
Hello! I made a solar filter for my telephoto lens from baader film (easily obtained online) and with strips of poster board. I had my filter ready to go within 30 minutes and the only tools needed were: Poster board, baader film, scissors and glue. First you cut approximately 10 2" strips of posterboard about 6"-10" long (depending on the size of the lens), then you layer the strips around the lens and bond the strips with glue (don't glue to the lens!). Cut two donut-style rings to sandwich the baader film, trim excess film and secure to the circular base fitted for your lens. Viola!
The image quality is fantastic and it saves well over a hundred dollars for telescope-size filters. The actual color through the filter is actually more of a white light and the orange was added to better represent the sun. I couldn't be happier with the performance!
