Soldering Station
Greetings everyone. My name is Eduardo Garcia and I am a second year mechanical engineering student at San Jose State University. This project is about creating a soldering station using 3D printing. I used Fusion 360 to create the model and then 3D printed all the parts. The soldering station allows for soldering to be made easier by having three different parts. A wire spool to hold the solder wire, a sponge to clean the solder tip, and a soldering iron holder. These three key components help soldering be a much easier process. This project is also great for people who want to learn 3D printing and assembling different parts together.
Supplies
The supplies needed for this project are listed below. Everything here (besides the filament) costs below $20 making this project budget friendly.

CAD Design
This project was made using Fusion 360. The CAD file is attached below just in case you need to make some modifications. There are a total of 7 parts that were assembled together. The base is a simple square with a hole cut out for the sponge and a bracket attached to install the solder iron mount. For the soldering iron mount, it is a simple pipe design with hole cut outs around to make it look like a heat sink. The wire spool has a roller mounted in between the two support walls to allow the solder wire to spin freely. There is also an arm that has a hole to let the wire go through it and make soldering wires easier.

Wire Spool
The first step is to 3D print the roller, wire bracket, and 2 support walls. After, line up the wire bracket holes with the support wall holes and screw in the 4-40 machine screws. Then, add the roller in between the two support walls.
Note: Sanding and drilling might be required to fit the parts perfectly.
Attach Wire Spool to Base
The second step is to 3D print the base. Then, use the wire spool assembled in the previous step and line it up with the two rectangular sockets. Add super glue and wait for it to dry.

Metal Tube
The third step is to cut a metal tube to 10cm and add epoxy to the outside of it. Then, get the metal tube and insert it into the 3D printed tube. After, get the 1/2" washer and glue it to the top of the tube using epoxy. Optionally, spray paint the entire thing to make it look neat. Once it's dry, insert it into the soldering iron mount.

The third step is to assemble the mount and stem together by adding super glue. After waiting for it to dry, attach the mount to the base using a 5M screw and nut. Also, add the cleaning sponge to the dedicated space.
