Sorry!

Welcome! Today, we'll be designing our very own version of the classical Sorry! game on Fusion 360. This instructable should be comprehensible to most skill levels. So let's get right into it!

Note: I'll be using millimeters throughout the project, so adjust your preferences accordingly.

Base Board

Screen Shot 2021-05-13 at 3.49.23 PM.png

Create a box with one of the corners at the origin. Make the box 400mm by 400mm. Make the height 10mm. Under operation, select new component.

Circles Around the Board Sketch

Screen Shot 2021-05-13 at 4.21.49 PM.png

Create a new sketch on the top surface of the board. Draw a 40mm by 40mm 2-point rectangle(or square) on the bottom left corner as shown. Then, draw a 2-tangent circle with 20mm for radius inside the square. Now, select rectangular pattern under create(near the bottom). Select the square and the circle as objects, select the bottom boundary of the board as the direction, input 10 into quantity, select spacing for distance type, input 40mm into distance, and click ok. Repeat the process for the remaining three sides, but unselect the last square in the last pattern, so you don't have overlapping squares. Finish the sketch.

Extruding the Circle

Screen Shot 2021-05-13 at 4.36.33 PM.png

Select extrude. For profiles, first select the entire board, then unselect the middle and the circles. (This is faster than selecting each arc, but still very inefficient. If anybody knows a better way to do this, please let me know.) Set the distance to -5, and click ok.

Screen Shot 2021-05-13 at 5.19.56 PM.png
Screen Shot 2021-05-13 at 5.20.19 PM.png

Create a 2-tangent circle in the bottom left corner of the top surface as shown. Make the diameter 50mm. Move the circle 10mm up and 10mm right. Zoom in into the center of the circle, and make two 5mm construction lines; one at 45 degrees and another at 135 degrees. Turn off construction. Draw a line from one of the construction line ends that is 50mm long and at 135 degrees. From that same point, draw a 100mm line extending to the other side as shown. Do the same for the opposite end. click ok. don't finish the sketch yet

on the same sketch, create a text box on the bottom half circle. write "START", set the height to 12, centralize it, and make sure its bolded. turn it 45 degrees and move it to somewhere around the center of the semi circle, like mine. On the upper semi circle, create a text "FINISH" follow the same process from the previous text, except turning it upside down this time. click ok, but don't finish the sketch.

Make a copy of the sketched circle. Select "sketch scale," and click on the new circle. select the center of the circle as the point, and input 1.1 as the scale factor. click ok. Delete all the constraints in and around the circle. It's ok if you don't have any. click on "move", select the two circle, the two lines in the middle, and the two texts. turn them 90 degrees anti clockwise, and move them 200mm left. repeat the process for the remaining circles. don't finish the sketch yet

draw two construction lines across the board in a cross. draw one 89x64mm rectangle close to the center line, 44.5mm away from the crossing line as shown in the picture. make a copy of the rectangle and scale it to 1.05. mirror both rectangles across the central line. make sure none of the rectangles are crossing with the circle sketches. add 15mm tall text to both rectangles, in one write "DRAW" and the other "DROP." finish the sketch.

select extrude and click on all the cut out areas(not the texts). extrude them 5mm down. then extrude all the texts 1mm down.

and we are done with the board! on to the pieces!

create a new form. make a cylinder that has 20mm diameter and 25mm height. fill in the bottom hole with keep crease turned on, and the top hole with keep creese turned off. finish the form and make three more copies of it(I used a rectangular pattern, but you can just copy and paste).

Screen Shot 2021-05-14 at 8.21.34 PM.png

make a new sketch on the horizontal plane. use text to write a 12mm tall capital A. move it up 30mm and align it in the center of the piece. copy the A and align it on top of the second piece. double click the A and change it to B. do the same for pieces C and D. finish the sketch and extrude the letters down 7mm in function cut.

Make More Pieces

make a construction line like I did. create a rectangular pattern, select all the pieces as objects, and select the line as the direction. make 3 more rows of pieces, so that you end up with 16 pieces total.

Ok, this is it! thank you for coming, and I hope to see you next instructable. The next step has the instructions on how to play.

How to Play

Screen Shot 2021-05-17 at 11.22.00 AM.png

Use a regular playing cards deck in the game. Omit the 6s, 9s, and jokers. replace the "sorry"s for the king cards, and use jacks and queens as 11s and 12s. and proceed to play just as you would in a normal sorry game.
