Spicy Bagel Breakfast Sandwich

Spicy Breakfast Sandwich - Cooking with Eric

Hey chefs! It's Sunday morning and we're hungry. So let's make a tasty spicy breakfast sandwich.

For this Instructable, we're going to need:

  • A bagel
  • Sausage (Jimmy Dean Hot)
  • Two Eggs
  • Cheese (Pepper Jack)
  • Sriracha

If you don't want to read (who does anymore) you can check out the YouTube video I made:

We're going to start off with some Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage for this bagel and cheese and egg breakfast sandwich. It's going to get real weird when you have to handle this raw meat, so what I like to do is imagine I got my hands in a fresh zombie brain. That usually makes things easier.

I like to make the patties for the whole week. Then when I want to make another one of these sandwiches, I just heat it up in the microwave.

So make six patties of that hot Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sausage. Depending on how you feel about calories, you could make the patties larger or smaller. For example if you have a strong man competition next week, you may want to make two big patties at 600 calories each. If you have a bikini competition next week, you make want to make 12 patties at 100 calories each and then run 13.1 miles. #goalz.

Now you got the patties all formed. Wash your hands. They're going to feel nasty. Then put the patties in the pan on medium heat. Start cooking them up. I like to leave it uncovered here so the grease starts to splatter all over my stove.

Thaw Bagel. Slice It Up a Slice.

So while that's cookin' we're gonna go grab an Einstein Bagel which has been frozen solid. Bagels can be purchased in bulk from Costco. They sell for $5 for 10. I'm only one man so I can't ever finish them before they get moldy. The freezer is a great solution. After I put them in my microwave for 30 seconds I really can't even tell they've been frozen. Make sure you stop the microwave before it gets to 'End' or the most annoying sound in the world will ruin your morning mood.

After the bagel has been thawed in the microwave, we're going to take the serrated knife and fillet it down the middle like America's politics. Socialists and Libertarians.

Tend to You Sausage. Save a Little Oil.

Now we have to check in on our breakfast sausage. It's important to keep an eye on it because it can go up in flames real quick.

If you forgot about the breakfast sausage while you were working on your bagel, it's most definitely burnt by now. There's nothing we can do about it except claim we wanted a smokey. Turn the heat down and save some of the oil. You can put this in a coffee mug or straight into a small pan. This is going to give our eggs a nice firely flavor and tie the whole sandwich together.

Add a little water to the sausage pan and put the cover on. Put that on the back burner like our problems or our chores. Probably want to keep these going at medium heat to make sure it cooks all the way through.

Now Eggs. Then Toast Bagel.

We're gonna put the oil in the little egg pan. That's what I call a small pan for eggs. Put a couple eggs in there at low to medium heat and let them cook. When the white of the egg is cooked white, it's time to flip them over.

Add a slice of cheese to the top, turn off the heat and cover them. This will melt the cheese.

Push your bagel down in the toaster. Timing is everything!

It's getting so close. Next step!

Check the Sausage. Bagel's Done.

It looks like all the sausage is finished cooking. That's great because the bagel just popped up. Burn the heck out of your hand when taking the bagel out of the toaster and let's bring all this over to the stove top to assemble this monster.

Layer It Up. Sriracha.

Take the least burnt sausage and put the egg and cheese on top of that. Next grab the Sriracha for flavor.

There you go. We made a bagel sausage, egg, cheese, and Sriracha breakfast sandwich. And that's it! Let's take this to the table.

To really finish, sit down at the table and eat the dang thing. Looks good! Oh and make a YouTube video about your sandwich.

Haha, just kidding, but thanks for reading through my Instructable. If you liked it, consider checking out my YouTube channel and good luck with all your cooking adventures! :)
