Spicy Peanut Chutney
Chutney is a sauce in the cuisines of the Indian subcontinent that can include such forms as tomato relish, a ground peanut garnish or a yoghurt, cucumber and mint dip.
A typical Indian breakfast is never complete without at least one variety of chutney.
In this Instructable, I'll show you the recipe to cook spicy peanut chutney. This is a chutney of fairly thick consistency so that it goes good with any main course.
Let's put on our cooking hats.
Ingredients
The Ingredients required for the peanut chutney are as follows:
- Peanuts (1 Cup)
- Red Chilies
- Green Chilies
- Oil
- Coconut
- Mustard
- Salt
- Garlic Cloves
- Curry Leaves
That's all you need to make this tasty chutney. Let's get started.
Fry the Peanuts
Heat a dry pan on the stove. Without adding oil, add the peanuts into it and start roasting them.
Roast them well by continuously stirring and you'll need to stop when all peanuts start separating from the skins.
Now take all the peanuts separately and remove the skin.
In the Blender
Now it's time to add everything into the blender.
Add the chilies, and peanuts into the blender. Also add in a few chunks of fresh coconut.
Before blending everything, add in required amount of salt and a few garlic cloves.
Optionally, to give it more flavor, you can add in some cumin seeds and coriander leaves.
Blending It
After adding everything into the blender, add a little water and close the lid. Blend it for 15 seconds and stop.
At regular intervals, add a few spoons of water as per your required consistency, and give it a good mix.
After blending well, the chutney is done.
Tempering the Chutney
Now to give a finishing touch to the chutney, tempering is done. Almost all Indian dishes will have some sort of tempering done to it and that's what make them unique.
Heat some oil in a small pan and add some mustard seeds to it. Now add a few curry leaves to it. Once fried well, pour it directly on the chutney in a serving bowl.
This Chutney tastes best with some plain rice and soup.
Bon Apetit !!
