Step 12.png
This is a basic spinning compost bin. I built it using (4) 2x4x10's. I had home depot cut them in half before bringing them home. The barrel was $20 from our local feed store. I included some measurements, but yours will depend on what size barrel you use. Mine is about 20" wide and about 3 feet tall.

If you have questions, please message me and I'll include narrative on whatever is unclear.

Total Cost - Approx. $50

Good luck!

Step 1.png
Assemble all your materials.

Step 2.png
Cut three of your boards in half.

Step 3.png
Cut two of the halves in half. Those will end up being the cross piece of the "A" frame, and the cross pieces between the two "A" frames.

Step 4.png
Arrange the two boards upright. Place one of the 2 1/2' cross pieces about half way up the "A".  That will determine where you need to draw your lines at the top and bottom of the frame. Cut, the pieces and screw together using 3" wood nails.

Step 5.png

Step 6.png
Add the cross piece of "A" frame (Inside works best).

Step 7.png
Screw galvanized post hardware down to cross piece.

Step 8.png
Use your last two small pieces to attach the two frames. (Make sure your barrel will clear them when you turn it.)

Step 9.png
Drill (2) holes in your barrel that will fit your pipe, about half way up. Use PVC pieces as spacers. Drill many small vent holes in your barrel.

Step 10.png
Cut (5) 45 degree cuts in your last board (Cut the first one and use it as a jig). Those will ad corner support and structural integrity to your compost spinning frame. (again, make sure your barrel will clear them.)

Step 11.png
Test it.

Step 12.png
Turn food waste into compost. enjoy.
