Supplies

Supplies you'll need:

  • A white t-shirt (It is best if it's made from cotton or other natural fabric because it's going to absorb the dye better.
  • Rubber bands
  • Rubber gloves
  • Dye (I used fabric dyes in spray bottles but you can also use powder dye, mix it with water and put it in squeeze bottles.)
  • Aluminum foil (To prevent the dye from staining the table.)
  • Plastic bag

Wet the T-shirt

Wet the shirt with warm water first and wring it out thoroughly. Make sure it's not too wet, it only needs to be damp.

Make the Spiral

Place it on a flat surface thats covered with aluminum foil or something that will prevent the dye from stainig the area. Put a fork the middle of the shirt and start turning it, thats how you get a spiral pattern.

Tie It

Put a few rubber bands across the shirt. The bands are suppoused to leave a bit of white space between the dyed parts.

Dye It

Spray the dye on the shirt using the spray bottles make sure to do the other side too. Remember to wear gloves so you don't get dye on your hands.

After dyeing it, wrap the shirt in a plastic bag and leave it like that for a few hours. Then rinse it in cold water.
