Draw a picture of a coffin, cut it out. Then trace it onto a cereal box and cut it out. This way you have a more sturdy template. Cut off the domes of the cupcakes and turn them upside and place them on your cake board. In a shape similar to the template. You will need to cut some cupcakes and use the scraps to fill the gaps. Freeze for 10-30 min. Place the template over the cupcakes and use your template as a guide to cut the sides of the casket.(use a serrated knife)freeze again for 20 min.

Frost your  coffin carefully and you adjust as needed. Meaning… add a little scraps here or there or cut here or there until you achieve the shape you need. Make sure it is completely covered with frosting .

Cover the Cupcakes and Paint

Then roll out your fondant and cover the cupcakes . Use a pizza cutter to trim up the excess while you smooth out the fondant. Once you get it nice and smooth and looking like a coffin use a gumpaste tool or skewer to draw lines lightly like woodgrain you can also add in a few knots.

To paint it I used equal parts of chocolate brown and white edible airbrush paint and just painted in on with long smooth strokes.

The Finishing Touches

Melt your chocolate and carefully pour it into the mold. Let chill in fridge for about 20 min. then unmold. While that chilling you can crush your oreo cookie .try to get them as fine as you can. Pour them around the edges of your coffin. Then just place the bone parts wherever you want. The bloody bullet hole is made with a skewer and red piping gel and is optional.
