To stabilize a new tree and keep the wind from blowing damaging the trunk, all you need is a few strong rubber bands and a couple of sturdy tree stakes.

We used the rubber bands from broccoli and asparagus, tied together into 2 short chains of equal length.

We then connected one end of each chain to the tree trunk using another rubber band.

We then stretched the other, loose end of each chain to the tree stake. And the tree is now stable.
