model x-wing

I have made an approximately 1:100 scale star wars x-wing out of wood.

Supplies

we also used a chisel and file

The Body

We had a red wood pen blank put it in the lathe and slowly carved at it with the chisel until we had a nice curve to the body. We then went back and put varnish on it and set it aside for the wings.

The Wings

With the wings we drew out the design we liked and took to the scroll saw cutting them out slowly. next we started sanding and sanding until they were all smooth.

The Guns and Engines

With this step we had to make the guns and everything separate. The guns were made with more pen blanks while being careful on the lathe hoping we don't snap it. The same processes went in to the engines except we had to file little notches in to them for the wings

The Assembly

When assembling make sure EVERYTHING is there so that you don't have to rush about finding it like me. When building you can look at the pictures to see our 1 2 3 step process to building it. We started out with attaching the guns and engines to the wings as you can see in the pictures.

The Assembly V2

Next we attached the wings guns and engines to the main body with a lot of tite bond 3 and heavy weights. Then we added the top wings and engines to the body whitch completes this model.

Thank you for following this instructable I was 12 when I made this with my cousin.
