I made these simple yet nice looking 4 piece set succulent planter for outdoors.
You'd need a plate under to keep them on the table inside.

Glue and Cut to Size

I glued 3 pieces (2.5cm thick) of red cedar together and cut it to length.
The base measures 7.5 x 7.5 cm.
The lengths are: 12, 15, 17, and 21 cm.

(these cedar pieces were cutoffs of the table legs)

Drill Holes

Mark the center for the hole.
Clamp the piece before glueing. I don't have a bench vice so I clamp two blocks on sides to prevent spinning.
Drill 2'' hole for the plant on top and from the bottom drill 3/8 hole for the drainage.
Hold the drill very firmly.
If you have drill press this will be much easier job.

Sand and Apply a Finish

Sand with 120 and 220 sandpaper. Since there is no much sanding you can do this by hand.
With a plane smooth the edges (or with sandpaper).
Apply few coats of exterior finish of your choice. I also applied beeswax for a final coat.

Plant and Enjoy

Plant some succulents or flowers inside, place them in the garden/table and enjoy.
Cheers!
