There is nothing better than a sweet and crisp Sangria on a warm summers day! This delicious cocktail is infused with tons of fruit and brightened with herbs. Rosemary and basil perfectly compliment the fruit and turn this sweet beverage into a summertime hit!

You Need:

  • 1 Peach
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Orange or 2 Tangerines
  • 5 strawberries
  • 2 bottles White Wine
  • Rosemary-Basil Simple Syrup
  • Fruit/Herbs for Garnish (optional)

Fruit Prep

Gather your fruit and cut it up. You can use whatever fruits you want, but I really, really love this combination! It's sweet, acidic, and absolutely delicious with the fresh herb syrup!

First cut the peach into chunks. Then cut the remaining fruit into slices.

Steep the Fruit

Throw all the cut fruit into a large pitcher and add 2 bottles of wine. I accidently "lost" one bottle the night before so I had a lot of fruit for the wine I had. If this happens to you too, don't worry! It will still come out great, just extra fruity! I would recommend only using 1/2 the lemon or it will overtake the other flavors.

You can use any white wine that you like. Heck, you can even use cheap stuff! With all the flavors we are adding, it really doesn't matter! I do suggest staying away from sweet wines or rieslings as your sangria will come out way too sweet.

Now the hard part: Steeping the fruit overnight. It already looks and smells so delicious that it is difficult to resist pouring a glass right away, or even after an hour. But, if you want a nice infusion it needs to steep for at least 8 hours and preferably overnight.

Finishing Touches

After the fruit is done steeping, drain the wine from the fruit. Put the fruit into a bowl and the wine back into the pitcher.

Now we are going to add our crisp herb flavors using rosemary-basil simple syrup! You can add as much or as little of the syrup as you like. Just note that the more syrup you add, the sweeter the sangria will be. I recommend starting with 2 tablespoons and increasing in one tablespoon increments after testing. I used 3 tablespoons for my 1 bottle of wine. It came out really sweet, but that's how I like it!

Mix it all together and add half the fruit back to the pitcher.

Take a few pieces of the remaining steeped fruit and add it to your wine glass with a little fresh basil and rosemary. Pour in your sangria and garnish it with an orange slice and a strawberry. Enjoy responsibly!
