Substrates to tie dye
Protective surface cover
Wire rack + sheet tray
Decide on What to Tie Dye
This tie-dye party is all about ambience! Set up your shibori tie-dye party by prepping your work station.
Prewash (and dry, if using the dry technique) any fabrics that you’ll be tie dyeing. You can tie dye almost anything— shirts, tablecloths, cloth napkins, even unfinished wooden beads!
Prep Dye and Tie Fabrics
Prepare your tie-dye solutions according to package instructions and choose your desired folding and binding techniques. In addition to rubber bands, the Tulip Shibori Tie-Dye Kit includes zip ties and twine for intricate shibori tie-dye designs!
Dye Fabrics & Let Set
Place your project onto a wire rack and tray combo to catch any excess dye and begin to apply the shibori tie-dye to your substrates. Place your dyed projects in a sealed bag or cover with plastic to keep damp while the dye sets, 6 to 8 hours or overnight for more intense colors.
Rinse, Wash, Dry & Reveal!
After the dye has set, remove any rubber bands, zip ties, and twine. Launder according to package instructions and reveal your stunning new shibori tie-dye projects!
Set Up Your Party!
Once your shibori tie-dye projects are complete, it’s time to kick back and enjoy the rest of the party (and maybe even start planning the next one)! These savvy shibori tie-dye projects will make you want to throw a tie-dye party every summer!
