Super Simple Cotton Infinity Scarf From a T-shirt

If you're like me, winter chill makes you crazy. Toes, fingers, and especially,  air down the neck.

This is something I came up with, then discovered it has a name, the infinity scarf. This home-made version is super simple and you can whip one up in just a coupla minutes.  I wear one all the time now that it's under-heating weather. It's really easy to make.

The name "infinity scarf" was someone's brainchild, so the concept is not unique. The simplicity and ease of production here to tell makes this what I feel is my signature contribution to civilization.  You're welcome.

It is basically the trunk part of a T-shirt cut to a desired width and wrapped around your neck to keep the draft out.

I like dark colors, but you can choose any. Red is good. Tie-dye is always awesome.

A pair of stout scissors. Lightweight scissors will make the job a little harder.

Straighten out the shirt flat and cut through both layers if you can.
Cut from under the arm holes for a really thick scarf, farther down for thinner.

Careful, scissors are sharp! Don't cut the bedspread or placemats or homework laying underneath.

You can make it less thick by trimming it.

A wide-cut swath is good for tundra conditions, and it can go over your head, too.

Narrower for style. You can find your right size according to your conditions.

The cotton is comfy on your skin. I wear mine most of the day. It's like a mock turtleneck.

Done. Now Try It On.

It goes around your neck twice, or wear it loose like a Dali Donut.

The cotton naturally curls in at the cut side, so you never really see the rough edge. You can cut the hem side as well.

The stretchy material easily doubles up around your neck. It launders nicely.

My sister made one from a tie-dyed shirt, it looks great.
