Super-Simple Tongue Scraper
In my frustrations with 3D printing polyhedra, I once fathomed "a tongue scraper is the perfect kind of model for 3D printing these days, it's all just straight up !" but before I could get around to modeling and printing one I thought up this.
You'll need:
- kettle
- wooden stir stick (easily obtainable at coffee shops)
- an elastic band
Step 1: Soften Stick
Boil some water with the stir stick in the kettle and let it sit for a while.
Step 2: Bend the Stick
This must be done carefully so as to not split the wood. Make tiny micro-bends about every 1 cm for the middle 2/3rd of the stick. Now you should be able to get it into the elastic band with some nice curvature. You can start using it immediately with the band on. If you wait for it to dry you can remove the elastic band and it should hold its form decently.
Step 3: Usage
If you're not used to using one of these things, I advise: go easy ! I was so eager to get all the gunk off my tongue that I ended up cutting it. I haven't found the wood splintering in my usage but the wood sticks may vary and you might want to sand the edges.
