Light Machine Gunner's Guide
This is my first intsructable so cut me some slack if i'm wrong about something.
Supporting fire is mostly about keeping your team mates alive and allowing them to move from spot to spot on the field without getting hit. This makes it a whole lot easier to get the job done. Unfortunately, its not realistic like in real life, because the loudest gun scares people the most. In airsoft its either a stream of bullets coming at you or a high rof. Suppressive fire is not for cqb unless you have a compact gun with an extreme rate of fire. This guide will be on for players on the field.

Tactical Gunning
I have come up with two different carriers. A tactical gunner, and defensive gunner.
Tactical gunners are going to need to be a little bit lighter than a defensive gunner. Tactical gunners are going to be moving with their squad and covering them as the move from cover to cover. Some good tactic ideas are..
-Locating the enemy's position and be completely aware of your surroundings
-count down (3,2,1,Go!) before your team mate runs and you lay down a wall of plastic
-if you want to stick with your team, your going to have to move sometime, so fire on the move to
-Get a foregrip so your gun has more mobility
You might want multiple high cap mags and have a less bulky gun with a sidearm. Pack light. Fire in bursts. Know were you spot is in the squad when your traveling single file. Teamwork, efficiency, and organization is the best way to get things done on the battlefield.

Defensive Gunning
And then theres the defender. A defenders job is sorta self explanatory, but if your fighting on your homeland, your going to fight harder if you have ten guys running at you and you have 3 people left on your team. Some good ideas are..
-Carry alot of ammo (particularly drum mags)
-bring a side arm just incase
-fire in well aimed long bursts to make sure you hit your target
-if you have teammates with you than ask for directions on your fire
-prioritize your targets
-keep a good eye on the enemy and their location and try to interpret their range and intentions
-if you get a red dot sight choose one with a big lens so that you can see the action going on around where your pellets will go
-GET A BIPOD if your not going to rest your gun on something and you want to protect your bottom rails (if you have them)
-wait until your enemy is in good range
-make sure you or your cover is well camouflaged (thats doesn't mean where a ghillie suit) and easily defendable
-don't move around alot. movement is easier to spot than being still
Your Weapon
Now you going to need your gun. Keep in mind that a supporting fire weapon doesn't have to cost $300; just about any assault rifle can be easily modified with a few accessories to look badass. All you really need is a bipod of your choice and a drum mag or multiple high-cap mags. A red dot sight/scope can also be very useful if don't use a full face mask or any protective gear that wont make you turn your whole head sideways to be able to look down the sights during combat. Let your battleground heavily influence your accessories buying and decision of career. But remember you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to or don't have enough money. I recommend buying a gun from JING GONG or CYMA for a starter in the field. Most guns from them should be in the 330 to 410 fps range which is good for field combat. And hicaps and drum mags range from $15 to $60. My most reliable site is evike.com ( http://www.airsoftpost.com/index.php?cPath=21 )
