Halloween is just around the corner and with all the scary instructables posted I came up with one my self: How to use your pumpkin maximally or simply make a pumpkin fondue. This instructable is a 2 in 1; a Halloween decoration and a sweet fondue where the chocolate will be kept warm because of the candle that lights up the inside of your awesome pumpkin!

Materials

For the Fondue

  • A pumpkin
  • Knives for curving
  • Spoon or ice cream scoop
  • A little plate for the melted chocolate
  • Pen or whiteboard market
  • Grill sticks
  • Foil

For the chocolate and pumpkin cookies

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 spoon baking soda
  • 1 spoon vanilla sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup pumpkin
  • Chocolate
  • Milk

The Pumpkin

Cutting out the top is the tricky part here. You will have to turn your plate for the melted chocolate upside down and outline the area covered by the plate. Try not to cut it outside the marked area, I would suggest you to even cut 1-2cm inside the line as it is easier to slice extra parts if the opening is too small. Pull out this part and start scooping the inside.

The Pattern

Once you have scooped out everything nicely you can start to draw your pattern on the pumpkin. I would advise you to use a whiteboard pen if you have one because you can erase it with your fingers if you make a mistake. A regular pen works fine as well. You can start carving the pumpkin now and for this part I like to use a serrated knife or a scalpel.

The Plate

Once you are done you can now put the plate where you cut out the opening. If you cut it out to wide then some foil might help you that will fill up the empty space between the pumpkin and the plate. Cut out the extra foil.

The Pumpkin Cookies

By now you would probably have thrown the inside of the pumpkin away, but not in this instructable. The Pumpkin cookies are really simple to bake and with the ingredients I used i got around 30 cookies. Start with preheating your own to 300°F or 150°C.

The Dough

Drop by rounded tablespoon onto prepared baking sheets or butter the plate. Put the cookies in the oven for 10-15 minutes.

Melt Some Chocolate

You can either buy chocolate sauce or melt a chocolate bar yourself. Fot the latter you will need to heat water in one pan and in another put the chocolate and some butter so it won't burn when heated. You will probably need to add some milk to avoid seized chocolate.

TIP: To make it even more Halloween like you could use white chocolate and red food coloring to make it look as blood or some blueberries.

Final Steps

Using one grill stick make holes on the back of the pumpkin where you will stick in grill sticks that will be used as fondue sticks.

Finally, pour the melted chocolate into the plate, dip a cookie and have the first bite!
