Swiss Cheese CNC Lamp - Tutorial - ZMorph Hybrid 3D Printer

With this simple CNC-cut lamp you can illuminate your room with dozens of shapes. It's super simple to make, here's what you need:

  • a CNC machine, or a multitool 3D printer with a CNC toolhead (we used 1.8 mm single flute drill bit). To make the original design we used a ZMorph
  • source files (STLs and G-CODEs attached)
  • wood of your choice (we used plywood). If you like, you can also use some non-wood material, like plexiglass
  • a small candle/tealight

Cut 6 walls using wallx1.gcode (if you want to cut one wall at a time) or wallsx2.gode (for 2 walls at a time), then use bottom.gcode and top.gcode to make the top and the bottom of the lamp. Put all of the pieces together (they connect like K'NEX), throw in a candle and enjoy!

For ZMorph 2.0 S owners, check out the tutorial video, covering steps for switching toolheads and calibrating (have already heard about ZMorph 2.0 SX?).

Last, but not least, if you want to go creative with the lamp, we also attached stl files.

Cheers!
