Switch Cover Replacement
For this project, you won't need much but two specific screwdrivers that are provided with the order of your case, (screwdriver X and Y) tweezers to unplug ribbons, and a heat gun to take the screen off. You can also use a hairdryer.
Let the Unscrewing Begin.
You will need to unscrew the screws that are on the metal shield. Be sure you are unscrewing specifically the parts of the metal and nothing else.
Feast Your Eyes.
When you are done unscrewing the metal, carefully take the metal shield out. Once that is out, you are greeted with a mess of circuits, metals, and ribbons.
Copper Time
Unscrew the bottom part of the copper stick and CAREFULLY take It out. It is easily bendable and if it bends, then no more playable switch and you paid for your switch to die.
Game Cartridge and More Unscrewing
Once you remove the copper stick, start to unclip the ribbons from the game cartridge and unscrew the left side of the circuit. Only unscrew the screws that are on the green parts. nothing else. take out the game cartridge piece.
Left Side of the Switch
Now that you've unscrewed the circuits, you can safely take everything out and all that left on the left side is the joystick. unscrew that and take that out as well.
Right Side of the Switch
Unscrew the screws that are on the circuit, and unclip the ribbon at the bottom to take out the right part of the switch. Unscrew the other joystick.
Almost There.
Unscrew the rest plastic parts and mind the ribbons under the plastic.
Heat Gun Time
This is where the heat gun takes place. Set the heat gun to low and start to blow the heat on the screen around the corners and heat it evenly. Don't try to take it out forcefully. It should be taken out smoothly.
New Cover Progress
when the screen is taken off, put the screen on the new front of the cover. heat it up with the heat gun so the glue sticks to the new cover.
Reconstructing
This is very straightforward now. You start putting everything back together, This all looks intimidating because it has a lot of weird-looking things but trust me there are only like 6 pieces in all of this that you need to connect.
Cartridge and Copper Wire
Once you have re-connected all of the circuits and ribbons, that means all that is left is the game cartridge and the copper wire. Reconnect them and you're almost done.
Metal Shield and Cover
Rescrew the Metal shield back on the switch. Now all that is left is to put the new cover on the switch and it's done.
Done.
Go to settings and test out the buttons and see if they work. If they do, then you have finished.
