Taco Wontons

As my kids grow up and leave the house, I have leftovers more and more. So I like to repurpose them into tasty snacks.

Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese
1-2 cups of leftover taco meat
small of cup of warm water
1 pkg of wontons (found in the produce section of grocery store)
medium pan of cooking oil

Combine cream cheese and taco meat together

Putting It Together

Take a wonton sheet, put a teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of it. Wet the edge of the sheet with the warm water. Fold it on the biase in a triangle in a point pinching it closed. Make sure it is completely sealed and fold it upward. This is the longest step but well worth it.

Heat the oil up, I can tell it is ready when I place the end of a wooden spoon in the pan and tiny bubbles start rolling up the sides. Place the wontons in the hot oil. Usually takes a couple of minutes and they are ready. At first they sink, then float to the top and then you need to roll the wonton to brown the other side.

I pull them from the oil and place them on a paper towel or brown bag to drain excess oil.

Side note: can also make these up and freeze them for a later date. :) makes for a quick snack
