Tassel Key Chain

Personalize your key chain using a few simple and inexpensive items.

Here’s what you’ll need ..

• Scissors
• Suede cord
• Wooden beads in assorted sizes
• E6000 glue
• Craft paint
• Bamboo skewers
• Key ring

You’ll also need …

• Preval Sprayer
• the box the Sprayer came in
• Painter's tape
• Nail polish (optional)

Prepare the Preval Sprayer by adding one ounce of craft paint and 2 ounces of water to the jar.

Cap, shake and attach the spray can. Now you're ready to paint.

Thread bamboo skewers through the wooden beads, and spray, allowing the paint to dry before applying additional coats.

Add detail to the beads by taping half of the bead, leaving the other wooden half exposed. Spray on a contrasting color.

You can even use nail polish to paint decorative dots or stripe details.

While the beads dry, let’s make the key chain tassel. Watch the VIDEO for a step-by-step guide.

1. Cut a 7.5” length of cord and set it aside.

2. Wrap the remaining cord about 5 times around the Preval Sprayer box or a piece of cardboard. Slide the cord off the box, maintaining the loop shape.

3. Pull the cut cord through the loop and, toward the end of the loose cord, tie a double knot. You’ll have several inches of cord left, where we’ll later string the beads on. But before you do that ...

4. ... Trim the opposite end of the loop, and cut the excess cord.

5. Cut a 5” piece of cord and wrap it around the tassel a little ways down from the knot at the top.

6. Trim the tassel ends to one length.

7. String the beads onto the long cord at the top of the tassel, and tie a slip knot to secure the beads.

1. Form an "X" with the two cord tails. (The loose tail should be the top cord.)

2. Hold the loop in place with your thumb and index finger.

3. Make a second loop with the loose tail, and insert it through the first loop.

4. Pull the tails as you slide the slip knot snugly against the top bead.

5. Make a knot around the base of the slip knot with the remaining cord, and cut any excess.

6. Slide the loop onto your key ring.

To reinforce the knots you’ve made, dab on E6000 glue using a wooden skewer.

When it dries, it’s time to hit the road in style. This is one key chain you won’t forget!
