The Awesome Altoids BBQ
Before posting this instructable I was looking at a few altoids BBQs and I decided to make up my own simple altoids BBQ design. I wanted to make my BBQ so that it didn't use a charcoal briquette and I also didn't want my BBQ to weigh too much. After much though I came up with this. This BBQ is excellent for camping or fishing trips.
Supplies
Here is everything you need for this instructable:
. A wire coat hanger
. Two small candles
. An altoids tin
. Matches and striker (optional)
. Duct tape (also optional)
. Hot glue
Tools:
. Dremel
. Pliers
. Hot glue gun
Candle Wicks
The first step is to extract the wicks from the candles. This is usually done by pulling the metal end of the wick from the bottom of the candle.
Hot Glue the Wicks
Hot glue the two wicks to the bottom of the tin and wait for the glue to dry.
Melting the Candle
Put the candles in the microwave and wait for them to melt completely. Different candles will take different amounts of time to melt.
Pour the Wax
Pour the melted wax into the tin and wait for it to dry. The tin should be one third full (or two thirds empty).
Cut and Measure the Holes
Using a ruler mark the four place where you will cut the holes to hold your "grill". There should be two on each side, and they should be across from each other. You can use a dremel to cut out the slits. Make sure you cut your holes deep so you can still shut the tin once you have installed the grill.
Making Your Grill
Cut two piece of wire roughly the length across your tin. Fit the two pieces of wire in the slits and hot glue them in place. Trim off any extra wire.
Optional Match-pouch
As you probably saw in my other pictures I made a small pouch out of duct tape to hold matches and I glued the strikers to the lid. This is an optional step that will add extra functionality to your BBQ.
