The Fish Bench

In this instructable I will be explaining to you how to create your very own fishing work bench! The reason why I decided to build one is because I was tired of having to keep all of my fishing gear all over the place. The Fish Bench, as I like to call it, allows for me to do everything fishing in one neat spot.

Here is what you will need:

1. 5 2x4
2. 1 2x6
3. 4 large bolts with washers and nuts
4. lag bolt (for line spooler)
5. 2 pieces of plywood
6. peg board with peg board mounts
7. any smaller sized wood as seen around the peg board.
8. Screws (1 3/4 in)
9. ruler
10. Filet board
11. saw
12. screw/drill

Constructing to bench can be done in any fashion. You can copy as I did or create it in away that fits the location you plan to put it. You can make it smaller or bigger, it's really up to you. First I created a frame for the top of the bench. I cut my 2x4s into two different sizes. the frame ended up being 6ft x 2ft and I cut my plywood down to size to match it. I then screwed it all together to create the top. Next, to add a sort of a back splash, I cut a 2x6 down to 6 ft and screwed it into the frame.

Next. for the legs I cut another 2x4 down into 3 ft pieces. You should have three 3 ft pieces. You can adjust the size of the legs depending on your height. I took a drill and drilled a pilot hole through each 2x4 and on 2 pilot holes on each side of the table top. I then took my bolts, threaded the washers through all of them, placed them through each of the pilot holes of the table top and then added the legs. Once it was all into position I tightened the nuts down snug. For extra strength I screwed more 2x4s in between the legs.

For the peg board, I just bought a pre-cut piece from home depot. I then outlined with scrap wood and bolted into the 2x6 back splash. Next I added my peg board mounts.

For the line spooler I just drove a lag bolt into the side of the table. It will do the trick. You could use a bold and a nut so you could add some friction to slow the spinning of the spool when you are spooling your reel.

For the filet board I just created some runners from more scrap wood that fit the size of the board I had on hand. This way it can slide in and out so it can be out of the way when you are not using it.

The last step is to load it all up with your fishing gear and go out fishing! Tight lines!
