The Grinch Stole My Christmas Lights

I saw this on Pinterest and had to make one for myself. If you don't want to put up a lot of Christmas lights, this decoration is for you.

For this project you will need

• 4x8 sheet of coroboard. - Bought from local sign shop $28.
• Projector with Computer
• Red, Green,Yellow outdoor paint - Sample size.
• Black paint pen or Sharpie - Pen was a little difficult to work with.
• Few small brushes
• Jigsaw or boxcutter
• 1/2 inch PVC tubing, T connectors.
• Flood light
• String of lights - LED is the only way to go.
• Couple of screws and washers

Begin by putting your 4x8 sheet of coroboard across a slightly dark room and project the Grinch image from Pinterest onto it. I had to move my projector pretty far back to get the size I wanted.

Trace all of the lines with a pencil. I put a G, W and R in some spots so that I wouldn't mess up the paint colors.

Lay the board on a nice flat surface and break out your paints. Now it's just a matter of painting within the lines.

After about two coats of red, green and yellow(eyes). Carefully edge out the Grinch with the black paint pen.

*Note: I did not wait long enough for the paint to dry and ended up smudging the black. So learn from my mistake and let it dry. Also do not push too hard or it will peel off the paint.

Finish any touch up needed, and you are done painting.

Cut out the Grinch with your jigsaw or boxcutter. Be careful not to peel off the paint when sliding your jigsaw over it. I notched the fingers a bit so that he could hold the string of lights.

Now mount your Grinch any way you can. I used a few pieces of 1/2 inch pvc, T connectors and a piece of 4' rebar as seen in the sideways picture. Four screws with washers hold the coroboard to the pipe.

Finish off by stringing some lights from a corner of your house down to his hands. Position a flood light a few feet away and plug them in. I recommend getting a timer.

Step back and enjoy your hard work.
