The Two Fingers Alcohol Stove: The Simplest Yet Efficient Design (quite No Tools)

The "Two Fingers Alcohol Stove" (or "Single Beer Can Stove", is a very effective way of getting boiling water or hot meals while hiking or bivouac. It is only a few grams of metal to carry (plus the denatured alcohol, of course).

The main pros are: it is very easy to make and requires very few and common items.

• A fixed blade
• A beer can
• Two fingers (or more)

• Denatured alcohol and a mid sized pot

Cut off the bottom of the can, using the blade or a scissor (about 35mm high).

The height can be adjusted with books (like Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest") and eventually a post-it pad.

Rotate the can against the blade for several turns until you are able to separate, detach the two parts by pressing both of them with your finger.

Cut off the top of the can, same process as above (about 47mm high).

Create the way out for the vaporized alcohol. The deeper the downhills, the stronger the resulting flames.

Press the metal between your two fingers and the blade or any tool offering a sharp enough edge.

Assemble by pushing the upper element inside the lower one until the maximum is reached.

Fill in with a finger of alcohol, light up and enjoy!
