The Wiggle Jiggle Fish
This is a fun quick rundown of how to make a jellyfish!
It's simple fun and good for all ages.
Supplies
~pencil
~paper
~scissors(optional see step 1)
~canvas
~paint
~paint brushes
~pallet
-white pen (optional)
Sketch the Jelly Fish!
1.1. look up a few reference photos and come up with an idea of how you want your jellyfish to look
1.2 grab your paper and pencil and make a rough outline of the jelly fish body.
for ours we made a bean shape
1.3 add small bumps to your jelly fish bottom for some shape
1.4 draw long lines for tentacle (optional)
1.5 (do 1.1- 1.4 again if you want to keep the original sketch) cut out the top of the jelly fish and leave to the side.
Bakround
make a gradient from dark blue to white.
1. put a blob of white in the upper left corner
2. put blue paint under and and add a little white to it
2. add blue in the middle and lower right hand corner
4. add a dot of black to the bottom right hand corner
5. blend all the colors together in a back and forth motion (note if you want the water to go a diffident direction blend it at an angle or however you want) until you have a smooth gradient
Simple Paint Part
take the jellyfish cut out from earlier and place it on the canvas and trace it with a pencil wherever you the base to be
then grab the colors u want for the tentacles (we used acrylic paint)
and start painting (tip-using different sized brushed and different amount of pressure can make a cool thick to thin effect which is what we did)
tip-mixing your colors can make great variety in the tentacles
after adding all the tentacles u want go over the body of the jelly fish in your darkest color along with adding in some indents/curves to the inside
Detailed How to Paint
tentacles
1. from the base of the jelly fish draw a long wavy line down to the bottom of the canvas
2. use darker colors 1st
3. then go lighter the more you add
jellyfish body
1. go over the pencil sketch with the body color
2. add curved lines that are thicker at the ends coming out of the center points of the jelly fish.
highlights:
go over the right side of the curved lines
add white circles for bubbles and little dots in the tentacles
Bubbles
grab your white paint and a small paintbrush
you can free hand or for the big bubbles we grabbed a lid (any small lid/circle item will work)
we dipped the lid in a thin layer of white paint and lightly put it on the canvas
for the small bubbles we took a white pen and made the highlights on the big bubbles as well as the tiny bubbles
and for the dots on the jellyfishes tentacles we dotted white paint on them
