The World's Best Hot Dog : Cooking With Robot
I'd just like to ask Eric, Christy, and Robot if they have any problems with my Instructable. I'd be glad to change it if they did!
For the short version just watch the video.
I found this recipe for the world's best hot dogs about 5 years ago at an airport in Sarasota, FL. Using this method you get juicy and perfectly grill-marked dogs every time. So when this contest came along I thought to myself, what better way to present it than a cooking show, Cooking with Robot.
I made the robot I used in the video from =SMART='s instructable found here.

Materials
There's not much you need for this recipe. You just need...
- Mustard
- Bun Length Hot Dogs
- Buns
- A Knife
- A grill
- and A Spatula
PreHeat
5 minutes before you're ready to start grilling start your grill. I let mine get up to around 400 degrees.
While You Wait...
While you're waiting for the grill to heat up, cut the hot dogs down the middle. Don't cut them all of the way through, just make it so that you can open them up. Use the knife (Duh).
Grill 'Em!
Now that your hot dogs are cut you can start to grill them. I normally start flat part down and grill them for about five minutes, checking a lot to see if they're done. Then I flip them over and cook them on the rounded side for about 2 minutes.
Buns
Now that the hot dogs are grilled to your liking you can take them off the grill. Now put the buns on the grill the same way that you put the hot dogs on there. Be very careful not to break the buns.
These don't need much grill time at all, maybe 1 to 2 minutes.

Finishing Touches
Lay the hot dogs out on top of the buns. Add a lot of mustard (You could add other stuff too). Now, close the dog and bun. Enjoy!
Side Dishes
I like having kettle cooked barbecue chips with my hot dog. Really crunchy and good.
Since the hot dog gets a lot of really strong taste from the mustard, sweet side dishes are a good idea.
Today I had watermelon and some strawberries.
So go out and make these! Your vote in the contest is appreciated, and feedback on how I did would be nice. Thanks.
