The Basics of Pivot Stickfigure Animator.
Hello Instructables. :) I will be showing you the basics of an animating program called Pivot.
The Main Hub!
Now when you open the program, you'll see all sorts of buttons to the left, and I'll tell you what they all do.
Frames
The 'Next Frame' button is probably the most important of them all. Frames are the most important thing to your Pivot animations, and you can't add them without this button. The more frames that you have, the longer your animation will be. When you press this button, a frame will be added to the space at the top of the hub.
Play and Stop
The 'Play', and 'Stop' buttons are what plays, and stops the current amount of frames you have.
Play and Stop: Repeat
The 'Repeat' box below the 'Play' and 'Stop' buttons determines whether your animation will repeat on a loop, or it only plays once before going to the latest frame you're on. The check marked box means it will repeat, and the unchecked box means it will only play once.
Frame Rate
With this bar, you can adjust the rate at which your frames play. Although I recommend you keep the bar in the middle, you can play around with it to see which one you like most. Anywhere from around 33 frames per second, to 7 frames per second.
Adding a Figure
With this button, you can add a new figure into your animation to use.
Current Figure
The 'Current Figure' button list is the general options for the stick figure.
- Delete: Delete the selected stick figure
- Edit: Edit the stick figure, to add clothes, hair, armour, etc.
- Centre: Sets the selected to the centre of the screen.
- Flip: Flips the stick figure horizontally.
- Colour: The colour of your selected stick figure.
- The next box is the size of the stick. 100 being the default, 200 being twice the size, 50 being half, etc.
- Front: Brings the stick figure to the front, or in front of every other figure.
- Back: Sends the stick figure to the back, or behind every other figure.

Stick Figures
Now it is possible to have more than one stick figure at a time. Your selected stick figure's joints will turn red, and one orange, when clicked. This means you have full control over the stick figure. If you have more than one stick figure on your screen, the unselected figure's joints will be blue.
Files
Now there are many things you can do with your animation. You can:
- Start a new animation.
- Save your current animation
- Load a saved animation, if you have a saved animation you want to continue
- Load a background, so you don't have a boring white background.
- Clear the background, if you don't think it fits, or you simply don't want one.
- Load a figure type, so you could load a stick figure you made with hair, and clothes.
- Create a figure type, so you could make a simple floor, or try having a shot at making your own stick man!
