This is the first in a series of hollywood makeup tutorials that will teach you how to make bloody gashes.

Gather Your Materials...

one.jpg
you will need each of the following, all of which are available at halloween or party stores.

Flesh Latex
Blood Gel
4- color makeup Paq
Toothpicks
Stipple Sponge
Cotton Swabs

Smear on Some Latex

two.jpg
As the tite states, this step is quite simple. Using a cotton swab, smear on a somewhat thin, yet generous layer of latex in the general size and shape of the desired wound.

Score the Latex

three.jpg
four.jpg
Using a toothpick, make a rut in the latex to mark where the gash will open.

Open the Gash

six.jpg
Using a toothpick, poke the now air-dried latex layer at the open cut to curl up the sides a little.

Allow to further air-dry

Apply Bruise

seven.jpg
eight.jpg
Using the stipple sponge, apply a few random speck of Purple makeup around the Laceration. Then, use a cotton swab to rub it into a bruise. NOTE: Use the purple sparingly. It goes a long way!

Add Irritated/Torn/Inflamed Flesh

nine.jpg
Using a different corner of the stipple sponge (we dont want to mix colors!) use the red makeup to add small skit marks immediatley next to the opening of the cut. Then, using quick skitting motions, drag the sponge across the very top of the curled latex, giving it the torn and inflamed appearance.

Add Dying Skin

ten.jpg
Now that you have inflames the flesh, you need the kill the very tips of the skin. Using yet another unsoiled corner of the stipple sponge, highlight the tips of the little peaks of torn flesh, giving the appearnce of dead/dying flesh.

Road Rash

eleven.jpg
what caused the Laceration? For this one, it was assumed to be a flying metal part of some sort. So use black makeup (and your ever-trusty stipple sponge) to add skit marks of black where the gresy metal tore through your skin. (pleasant thoughts!)

Re-Curl

twelve.jpg
curl the edges again, peeling up the fles and giving the blood gel a nice gap to seep into.

YAY Blood Gel!

fourteen.jpg
fifteen.jpg
Using a toothpics, smear a thin layer of bood gel into every nook and cranny of the laceration. (be sure to get under all the flaps of flesh!) Then, with the cotton swab, plop and smear oh-so-generous dollops of blood gel to fill the nasty gash.

Congratulations!

you now have a washable laceraction on the place of your choosing. Go scare the crap out of your friends.

watch for the next instructable: Gunshot Wounds!!

(sorry about the fuzzines on the picture, but it enhances the realism.)
