Throw a Surprise Party

My grandparent's anniversary is coming up soon. My sister and I have already started planning their surprise party. This is geared towards family surprises, like a parent, sibling, or grandparent. And again, for my lack of pictures you will be seeing puppies ;)

Decide When and Where

First off, let me say that you should have someone to plan this with you, like a helper... So decide when and where the party will take place. My party will be at a nice party room in my uncles apartment building. You can have yours at your house if it is informal. But if you want to go fancy, a private restaurant room is nice. If the guest of honor lives with you, it will be very difficult to do it in the house. If you plan on doing it in a restaurant, make reservations, or reserve the party room

Invites

Sometimes surprise parties are nice when it's just family. But if its a big deal, like an anniversary or something, inviting the guest of honor's friends is appropriate. Remember, you are the host, so don't invite any of your friends, well, unless its your friends party! But if it is for a parent or something, inviting your friends isn't good. So make invitations plenty ahead of time. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SAY IT IS A SURPRISE PARTY! I cannot stress this enough, and neither can you on the invitations. It is soooo important that everyone is in on the plan so nobody blows it.

Put People in Charge

A lot of people who are invited to a surprise party want to help in some way. Don't be timid and say you can do it all... Because you most likely cant. It's hard to throw a party alone, much less a surprise party... Ask people to help you and put them in charge of categories...

Decorations

some restaurants don't like you decorating overload. But many party halls expect it. If you can do a lot of decor, streamers are quick and easy. You can buy supplies and wall hangings at party city. Be sure to stick to a theme. If you can't decorate a lot, then balloon bouquets are very nice and are accepted anywhere.

Food

The bigger the party, the more food you need. If you want to cook it yourself, then accept help. People can bring a salad or pasta or something. Or you can cater food, which is easier but more expensive. If you do cater but can't afford everything, then choose something, like desserts or appetizers to do yourself.

Entertainment

If its just adults at your party, you don't need much entertainment because adults will talk. But kids need entertainment otherwise you will have trouble. A game like bingo will work or you could put a Disney movie on.

Final Touch

A good party has a sweet, emotional part. For that, my sister and I are going to duet at our party. I have been playing piano since I was 8. My sister has been singing since that age too and has wonderful talent. I will play piano and my sister will sing to a song from "Million Dollar Quartet" because my grandparents love musicals. So that's pretty much it. Enjoy your party!!9
