The first thing you have to do is soak the shirts in a bucket filled with water. Then wring it out until damp. Next lay the shirt down on a covered surface.
Designing the Shirt
One very common design for tie-dye is a spiral. To make a spiral shirt, take a ruler and put it straight up on the shirt in your desired spot. That will be where the spiral starts. Twist the ruler until the shirt is completely twisted. Next put rubber bands around the spiral shirt to hold it in place.
Next you use the dye and color the shirt. You can use a variety of colors but don't use too much.
Once you are done, put your the shirt into a Ziploc plastic bag and seal it for at least 24 hour to let the colors bleed into the entire shirt.
After 24 hours of waiting, its ready to dry them. One by one, take off the rubber bands and unravel the shirt. Then hang up the shirts and let them air-dry until completely bare. The shirts are now able to be worn and washed many times.
